Mental Health Grace Alliance Disclaimer:
Biblical and Educational Supportive for Personal Growth: All Mental Health Grace Alliance (MHGA) resources and programs are biblical and educational resources designed to provide lay-level support for general mental and emotional wellness, well-being, and resilient growth for mental health challenges.
Not Professional Psychological and Medical Care (supports and promotes professional interventions): While Mental Health Grace Alliance lay-level programs and trainings have published studies demonstrating positive outcomes for participants, all MHGA materials and programs are not professional mental health or medical resources. Many of the outcomes indicate that participants received professional care, demonstrating that MHGA’s programs support overall positive mental health outcomes (See MHGA proven outcome studies).
Mental Health Grace Alliance resources do not and should not be used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any mental or physical disorder or replace the treatment services of mental health and medical professionals. Overall, Mental Health Grace Alliance resources and programs complement and promote professional services for additional and ongoing care (this disclaimer is clearly stated in the group workbook materials, training, and MHGA’s website).
Voluntary Use: The use of Grace Alliance resources in a personal or small group context is the sole discretion of the user, and participation is voluntary.
Church and Organization Liability: Most churches and non-profit organizations maintain comprehensive liability insurance that includes General Liability, Directors & Officers (D&O), and Professional (Counseling) Liability. These policies are specifically designed to cover "Care" ministries and community outreach programs, including those utilizing established peer-support curricula such as Mental Health Grace Alliance’s Grace and Thrive Groups, Celebrate Recovery (groups and materials), or GriefShare’s programs and materials. Because MHGA programs are structured as peer-led educational support (not clinical therapy), they typically fall under standard "Scope of Ministry" coverage both on and off campus. However, as insurance policies vary, we recommend that hosting organizations verify with their provider that their "Counseling" or "Professional Liability" extension includes lay-led support groups. Like other organizations providing strategic ministry care, Mental Health Grace Alliance maintains its own professional liability coverage for its programs and curricula. Many large and small churches all across the U.S. have facilitated Mental Health Grace Groups confidently for several consecutive years with their proper policies in place.
